REX American Resources (REX) owns stakes in six U.S. ethanol plants that also sell animal feed and corn oil.
Its second-quarter profit rose to $34.9 million as fuel margins improved and clean-fuel tax credits added income. REX expects its One Earth plant expansion to begin operating during fiscal 2026, which ends in January 2027.
With a market cap of approximately $1.4 billion, REX trades at approximately 13x annualized first-half reported profit. July cash and short-term investments totaled $379.5 million, with no bank debt. The next quarterly update could draw attention to expansion progress, but tax-credit estimates, volatile corn and ethanol prices, and project spending remain risks.
Opinion: REX appears potentially undervalued in ethanol if its next report confirms lasting margins and progress toward higher production.
